Lumber Cart - Needed a place for all the scraps!

So I got tired of tripping over all the random boards I have laying around. As a fellow diy -er, blue collar, or wood worker...we never throw away something that MIGHT be useful in the future. So my shop needed help, because these piece kept blocking doors, got tossed on top of piles of other boards and I could never find anything I needed when I had to have it. Now this thing gave me all kinds of problems when building. So BEFORE you start stacking wood on it, make sure you have all the shelves in place. I used 2x4 pine for the bottom at a full 8 foot length. Then 3/4" plywood for all the others. You could do the uprights in 1/2" and get away with it I believe. This has 6 casters on the bottom but 4 would probably be fine with more bracing.

The center storage goes the full length of the cart and is open on both sides. I like using the top shelf to store my spacing blocks that I use for swings, chairs, and benches that have boards running parallel. The bins on the right side make great storage for all types of materials and wood cutoffs but I also use it to store large levels, squares, and tools that don't really have a home. I have some paint poles, glow rods, and other long hard to store tools in the center slots. The cart is 8' to allow full sheets of plywood to store on the left side without sticking out in the way. You could also (and I plan to do it) store them more upright to do 2 separate stacks of plywood so you don't have to dig for a piece. Great advantage beyond the storage is its mobile, so no more moving all those pieces around 1 or 2 at a time.
